SUMMER 2008 GOLF NEWS

Beaver Creek Golf Course |
|
Welcome back from a long and very snowy winter! 2008 brings us to another great season of golf in wonderful Beaver Creek. Over the winter months, The Rendezvous Club restaurant was open for member only dinners. During the peak time, many members took advantage of Chef Weems excellent culinary skills. As for the golf course, Michael Miner and his staff worked on making sure we are still recognized as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. Only 654 golf course world wide have this honor! The Golf Shop received an award as the "best in its class" by the P.G.A. Western Chapter Section for the 2007 season.
Now that the construction on the clubhouse is completed, we can really start to enjoy our newly renovated facility and our wonderful golf course. You will notice that we added a few additional items to the clubhouse such as window coverings for both the member's lounge and The Rendezvous Club. To help with the noise challenges we have experienced, acoustical panels have been added to the walls and ceiling and an area rug has been placed in the bar area in The Rendezvous Club. A new espresso machine was installed in the member's lounge over the winter. Nobody will be left out on getting their fix before heading out onto the golf course!
Michael's job will never be done as the golf course is always looking for improvements. We are fortunate to have Michael Miner back as well as his first assistant Chad Thomson, second assistant Mike McDonough and equipment manager Dave Meadows. This year, a new landscaping design will be in place behind the 18th green and around the putting green as well. This design will be similar to what was done behind the 4th green last year, which came out great! Since you have already gotten your golf booklets, you see that we have a lot of events planned for this summer. As always, we are looking for ways to improve each event and add a few new ones to the list as well. The newest event is called the "Family Feud M.O.G.U.L". Because the M.O.G.U.L.'s are such a popular event, we added this event so that your younger children or grandchildren can participate in this. This year, the sign up's for our events will be upstairs in the member's lounge. To sign up for the member events, you may call 970-754-5193, starting May 2 or in person. We feel this will make more sense rather then in the golf shop and having to wait for a staff member. Upstairs, you always will have a full time concierge to assist you. Tee times will still be taken in the golf shop in person or by calling the golf shop at 970-754-5775.
As with prior years, there will be familiar faces as well as new faces. Kenny Thayer will be our new Head Golf Professional. Kenny was with us last year and is very excited to be the Head Golf Professional of the Beaver Creek Golf Club. Kenny came to us after spending 5 seasons at Kapalua in Hawaii. Prior to Kapalua, Kenny worked in Aspen at the River Valley Ranch. Kenny brings with him the experience of working at a top ranked resort. C.J. Rusin will return as the Assistant Golf Professional and will be joined by Ian Parham. We will continue our FREE lesson Thursday's from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, beginning June 12th through September 4th. In addition, Demo Days will be every Thursday from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm for the month of June and part of July. Come check out all of the newest equipment that can improve your game. Our professional golf staff is willing to help you with all of your golfing needs, including instruction, club fitting and club repair. Please inquire in the golf shop for more details. Katie Storm will return as our golf shop merchandiser. In Katie's first season, her tremendous effort helped us be recognized as one of the top golf shops in Colorado for 2007. I know Katie is very eager and willing to help you look your very best on and off the golf course.
Chef Kirk Weems will return to The Rendezvous Club restaurant. Some of you were able to take advantage of his skills this winter during our member dinners, which had excellent reviews. Our aim this summer is to provide our members with exceptional service at The Rendezvous Club. Bob Battle, who oversees Beano's and Allie's, will assist in managing The Rendezvous Club. Moreover, you should see a consistent level of service between all three of your restaurants which you have come to expect in Beaver Creek. The restaurant will continue to be open everyday for lunch from 11:00am - 3:00pm and the bar will stay open from 3:00pm - 8:00pm for all your favorite drinks and bar appetizers. In addition to our regular hours, The Rendezvous Club will be open for dinner during the peak summer months on Tuesdays. All members and their guests can dine at the club every Tuesday night from June 17 - September 2. In addition to the regular menu, you will also have a dinner special to choose from. Come in for a relaxing dinner and enjoy the relief that comes with knowing you have dinner plans every Tuesday! MOGULS will continue to be on Thursday nights from June 12th - September 4th. Kirk will continue to make MOGULS a fun and special event.
All of these changes are aimed at making the Beaver Creek Golf Club a special place to spend your summer days. Start marking your calendars as I am sure there will be plenty for you to do this summer. If there is anything our staff can do to enhance your experience please do not hesitate to ask one of us.
Thank you,
Dave Lopez
